Episode 012: Pisces Tea

Adagio Teas has this astrological tea blend series that I really wanted to give a try. As a Pisces, I was drawn to the Pisces blend.

There’s a lot of flavors going on here — citrus, chamomile, black tea, rooibos, etc. — and sadly, the taste is more similar to what you’d find from a regular supermarket black tea. I really wanted to like this, but…nope. I’m not a fan.

Episode 066: Fasting Tea

Ah, another interesting blend from ESP Emporium — this time, it’s their Ayurvedic Fasting Herb Tea Blend (or Fasting Tea for short). As you can see from the photo here, there’s an eclectic mix of ingredients going on in this blend.

These all blend together to make an oddly tangy cup of tea. Not savory…tangy. It might be the mix of chamomile and black pepper, but there’s an odd taste to this blend. It’s meant to “support you in times of moderation”, but I think I’ll just stick to plain ol’ water.

I will say this — it did make me lose my appetite.

Episode 067: Good Night

Good Night is another blend from Just Add Honey, and the name pretty much sums up what it’s meant to do — put you to sleep. The blend of chamomile, lemongrass, and lavender together work really well to make you relax.

It’s not a bad tea, but it’s not overwhelmingly great either. The addition of lemon peel helps add a bit of zing to the cup, but if you need something to help you settle down, you could do better. (It’s also a bit on the messy side thanks to the chamomile.)

Episode 088: Camomile, Honey and Vanilla

If you’ve been following this podcast for any length of time, you know I usually prefer loose leaf tea. But I also know that not everyone has the time to fool with filters and water temperatures and such when they just want a warm cup of tea. So to that end, I’m also going to review more bagged teas on the show. Today, it’s Twinings’ Camomile, Honey and Vanilla.

It’s a nice fragrant tea, but honestly, all the flavor is in the aroma (which reminds me of fresh baked biscuits with butter and honey). The resulting brew itself is extremely bland — light chamomile flavor punctuated with honey, but overall, it’s pretty forgettable.

Episode 127: Chamomile Lemon

You know how I feel about chamomile. By itself, I’m not a fan of its honeyed apple sweetness. It usually does good paired with other flavors, and this chamomile lemon from Numi Organic Tea is no exception.

The zing of lemon myrtle cuts right through the chamomile to create a really satisfyingly sweet cup of tea that’s perfect for bedtime. Brew this up and have a lemon drop in your cup!
