Episode 020: Blood Orange Smoothie

I have a few sample packs in my collection from The Tea Spot, and this is the first one that stood out to me. I mean, who doesn’t want a tea that tastes like a smoothie, right?

This blend does not disappoint. It smells and tastes just like a Creamsicle. Best of all, you can’t really oversteep this since it has rooibos as a base. Try it iced for maximum vanilla flavor!

Episode 026: My Morning Maté

Two Teavana teas in a row! (Bear with me — I’m trying to add some variety in here.) Chocolate was on my mind this morning, so I brewed up a cup of Teavana’s My Morning Maté.

This blend is a mix of roasted maté and rooibos along with a big punch of chocolate in the form of cocoa kernels, chocolate, chips, and carob bits. The result is a great full-bodied cup that’s perfect for kickstarting you in the morning. If you’re trying to wean yourself off of coffee, give this blend a shot! I think you’ll like it!

Episode 057: Climber’s High

Surprise — another maté blend! As a non-coffee drinker, maté and black tea are my go-to beverages when I need a buzz. The Tea Spot’s Climber’s High is a great, well-rounded cup of tea that’s great when you need a jolt in the morning or a pick-me-up after lunch.

It’s a yerba maté blend with chai spices, so it’s a light in body but heavy on flavor. There’s also tulsi rama, green tea, white tea, and pu’erh in this blend. It’s kind of a Whitman’s Sampler of tea in one cup!

Episode 211: Pu’erh Spice

Two pu’erh blends in a row! Today, it’s Adagio Teas’ Pu’erh Spice. There’s cinnamon, ginger, anise, and orange in this blend (check the photo for that nice piece of orange peel). There’s also “natural spice flavor” which…actually, I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean. Come on, Adagio!

It’s an okay tea. Not too bad, but not too spectacular either. The spices are the real star here, and they elevate the rather bland pu’erh into something drinkable. Your mileage may vary.

Episode 268: Calming Rose

This is going to sound terribly cliché, but whenever I’m having a night of fitful sleep, a good cup of tea usually calms me down enough to get me right off to bed. Last night, my tea of choice ended up being Tea Drift’s Calming Rose.

This is a really fragrant blend of rooibos, vanilla, safflower, and rose. Everything in this blend has a soothing and calming effect, and the vanilla and rose pair beautifully with the rooibos. It’s like aromatherapy in a cup!
