Episode 089: Om

Tazo’s Om was one of the first teas from Tazo I ever tried. It’s since been discontinued, but I was surprised to find it in a Tazo assortment pack I received a while ago. Om is a mix of black and green tea with added peach and cucumber flavors.

Overall, this is a pretty good blend, even though those peach and cucumber flavors were just a faint aftertaste for me. The sweetness of the green tea is balanced with the depth of the black tea (darjeeling, I believe). Kind of a shame this isn’t available anymore, but I’d be interested in trying to re-create this as a loose leaf blend.

Episode 104: Peach Momotaro

Flowers are blooming everywhere here in Atlanta…even right here in my apartment! Teavana’s Peach Momotaro is a blooming white tea with a delicate, soft peach flavor.

Keep in mind that with a lot of blooming teas, you’re not going to get a really strong flavor. I’d recommend steeping this around 5 minutes or so until you really start to see the water turn a deeper color. The peach flavor — while artificial — is a bit weak. Don’t go into this expecting a really juicy peach flavor.

Episode 136: Sweet Oolong Revolution

Sweet Oolong Revolution is a fruity herbal tea blend from Teavana with flavors of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves…and papaya abd pumpkin. It sounds weird, but it actually doesn’t make for a bad cup of tea! It’s sweet and spicy, and the pumpkin and papaya lends a creamy/savory note that’s pretty satisfying.

Teavana doesn’t sell this blend anymore, which is kind of a shame. I know there’s a lot of people out there who wish they would bring this back!

Episode 153: Country Peach Passion

Of all the big box supermarket brand teas out there, I can’t believe I haven’t stumbled across a Celestial Seasonings tea yet. Well, time to fix that! Today, I’m trying Country Peach Passion from their herbal tea line.

I will say this — they really nailed that fresh peach taste in this blend, including the tartness from a slightly unripe peach. There is a bit of a sour, soapy aftertaste, but I found that it’s lessened a lot when you drink it iced rather than hot. You can probably find this in most grocery stores, so give it a try and let me know what you think!

Episode 172: Afternoon High Tea

I love that Plum Deluxe’s Afternoon High Tea is classified as a weekend tea. (Because it’s the weekend right now and I totally drank it not even noticing that!) This lightly caffeinated blend contains peach white tea, apricot pieces, and pear essence.

The result is a nice harmonious blend that does well as a hot tea but really sings as an iced tea. Try both and let me know which you like best!
