malt – The Year of Tea

Episode 310: Frankenberry

Anyone else remember Frankenberry cereal? I was more of a Count Chocula fan, but I remember Frankenberry’s strawberry marshmallow taste. Zoomdweebie’s has taken those flavors and made them into this black tea blend.

As a hot tea, it’s not winning me over — the strawberry is sour and the marshmallow is not there. But once it cools down, the flavors really come together. So my recommendation…try it iced? (Who ever had hot Frankenberry cereal anyway?)

Episode 351: Green Gold

Teaspressa’s “tea inspired by coffee” gimmick sounds good in theory, but how does this carry over to different types of tea? I’ve tried Manhattan Black, and now I’m trying Green Gold. This is a proprietary green tea blend, so it’s hard to discern what all is in here besides the tea. Let’s brew it up and taste it!

I’m not a fan. There’s a really skunky, bitter quality to this blend that doesn’t make it very pleasant to drink when it’s hot. It mellows out a bit when it’s cool, but I’d love to know what’s in the blend that’s making it taste like this. The aftertaste is bitter and metallic as well. Not a fan at all. NEXT!
