Episode 073: Lemon Drop Cooler

Zoomdweebie’s Lemon Drop Cooler is like an all-in-one Uptown (also known as an Arnold Palmer). This honeybush blend is packed with lemon flavor — lemon peel, lemon verbena, lemon balm, lemongrass, and lemon myrtle. That’s a whole lotta lemon.

The flavor really shines when this tea is iced. Not that it’s bad hot, mind you! Give it a try both ways and see what you like!

Episode 086: Zen

I had this bag of Tazo’s Zen as part of a sampler pack that I received a while ago. The blend looks pretty good: green tea with lemon verbena, spearmint, and lemongrass. Can’t go wrong with that, right? Right?

Eh…it’s just okay to me. The spearmint is the star here, and the lemon verbena and lemongrass leave a bit of a sour aftertaste that is supported by the astringency of the green tea. It’s not remarkable, but it’s not disgusting either. I’d imagine this would be great iced, but as a hot tea, it’s not for me.

Episode 274: PGB

PGB is an acronym for Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, that famous quaff from Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Zoomdweebie’s has taken a stab at re-creating this drink in tea form in this lively blend.

I like it! You definitely get strong flavors of cinnamon and lemon, and the aftertaste is slightly spicy with just a whisper of bourbon. Zaphod Beeblebrox would be proud!

Episode 349: Jammin’ Lemon Ginger

I love a good lemon herbal tea with some zing to it! I remembered that Celestial Seasonings did send me a box of their Jammin Lemon’ Ginger, so I figured now’s a great time to try it. This zesty blend of lemongrass and lemon verbena also includes rosehips (for tanginess) and of course ginger.

Overall, I thought it was decent. It certainly doesn’t have the same pucker as real lemons and ginger, but it’s a lot better that some other ginger-y blends I’ve had recently. I’d drink this in a pinch, but there are better options.
