Episode 072: Berry Basil Blast

I’m not really sure what to make of Teavana’s Berry Basil Blast. This is a discontinued blend from them — with good reason, honestly.

It’s another one of their “kitchen sink” blends, and it’s chock full of so many fruit inclusions that you barely taste the white tea or the basil. It tastes very similar to their Blueberry Kona Pop, except the basil imparts a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Episode 073: Lemon Drop Cooler

Zoomdweebie’s Lemon Drop Cooler is like an all-in-one Uptown (also known as an Arnold Palmer). This honeybush blend is packed with lemon flavor — lemon peel, lemon verbena, lemon balm, lemongrass, and lemon myrtle. That’s a whole lotta lemon.

The flavor really shines when this tea is iced. Not that it’s bad hot, mind you! Give it a try both ways and see what you like!

Episode 224: Pink Rose Lemonade

Jackie and the good folks over at The Tea Spot sent over a great assortment of teas for me to try, and I decided to sample their Pink Rose Lemonade first. It’s a fragrant blend of rose petals, lemongrass, chamomile, spearmint, and lavender, along with some citrus flavors provided by orange peel and lemon balm.

This is a very relaxing and calming tea! The combination of lemongrass and spearmint is fruity and naturally sweet, and the other components round out the rest of the blend pretty nicely. It’s a great tea to have in your collection!

Episode 270: Sun and Cloud Mist Green Tea

52Teas’ Sun and Cloud Mist Green Tea sounds like a weather forecast. The “sun” is provided by all the lemony inclusions — lemon balm, lemon verbena, lemongrass, and lemon myrtle. The “cloud mist” is from the Wun Yu green tea.

It’s a lovely tea blend in theory, but the addition of marshmallow root is a sad, sugary raincloud that drowns out the brightness of the lemon and the green tea. Try it iced — it’s a much better cup of tea that way!

Episode 274: PGB

PGB is an acronym for Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, that famous quaff from Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Zoomdweebie’s has taken a stab at re-creating this drink in tea form in this lively blend.

I like it! You definitely get strong flavors of cinnamon and lemon, and the aftertaste is slightly spicy with just a whisper of bourbon. Zaphod Beeblebrox would be proud!
