Honest Tea – The Year of Tea

Episode 204: Honest Tea Organic Honey Green Tea

New challenger approaching! Honest Tea (along with Gold Peak) is owned by Coca-Cola, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the exact same tea with different branding. Today, I’m trying their organic honey green tea.

The two sweeteners in this tea — honey and cane sugar — produce a bit of a pear taste that detracts from the flavor of the green tea (which tastes a bit like salad greens). It’s not overly sweet, so I’m glad for that. If you like pears and salad, this tea might be for you!

Episode 222: Honest Tea Mango White Tea

Honest Tea was kind enough to send me a six pack of teas to review for the show, so let’s keep this iced tea streak going! First up, I’m trying their Mango White Tea which includes mango puree, cane sugar, and agave.

It’s really crisp, and the mango is a nice complement to the lightly sweetened tea. Don’t expect to be bowled over with mango flavor here — it is just a tad sweet, after all — but it’s definitely a nice change of pace.

Episode 244: Honest Tea Peach Oo-La-Long Tea

I’m slowly working my way through these bottled teas from Honest Tea, and the next one on my list is their Peach Oo-La-Long Tea. Organic oolong and black tea is brewed up with cane sugar, agave syrup, and peach puree.

Two words come to mind when I drink this: unripened peach. I don’t know if this is just because it’s a tad sweet, but the bitter aftertaste doesn’t make this a very enjoyable tea to drink. It’s more like Peach Oo-no-no.

Episode 252: Honest Tea Cinnamon Sunrise Herbal Tea

I’m continuing my way through Honest Tea’s bottled teas, and next on my list is their Cinnamon Sunrise Herbal Tea. This is a blend of rooibos along with cinnamon and ginger root. Everything here is certified organic by the USDA, so you can feel safe knowing you’re drinking a good beverage.

And what a good beverage it is! Despite this being an unsweetened tea, the rooibos and ginger provide enough flavor to make this a zesty and tasty blend. The cinnamon is a bit dry, but not overpowering at all. It blends really nicely with the rooibos. No bitterness here at all — try it!

Episode 266: Honest Tea Green Dragon Tea

I’m getting down to my last 100 teas, y’all! Today, I’m having a bottle of Honest Tea’s Green Dragon Tea. I’m not sure if the green tea in here is green dragonwell tea, but aside from that, the only ingredients in here are water, cane sugar, and lemon juice.

It’s not a bad bottle of tea…in a pinch. I’ve had better from Honest Tea, and the hints of passionfruit I’m picking up taste a bit starchy and unripe. It’s not an undrinkable blend, but just a touch more sugar would probably have improved this. Your mileage may vary.
