Episode 280: Paris

Ooh la la! Today, we are visiting France with this Harney & Sons blend called Paris. There’s not a lot of detail about this tea — “a blend of black teas with natural vanilla, fruit and citrus flavors”, according to Harney & Sons — but it’s supposed to be evocative of the City of Lights.

I think it smells better than it tastes. Paris has a rich, warm, and creamy smell like vanilla or sherbet. Taste-wise…it’s just a black tea with vanilla and some indeterminate fruity flavor. Bergamot, perhaps? I couldn’t tell, honestly. Quel dommage.

Episode 293: Lung Ching

Harney & Sons Lung Ching — also known as longjing or dragonwell — is one of the most well known Chinese green teas out there. The shape of the leaves in the blend while brewing are said to resemble a Chinese dragon.

Taste-wise, it’s a nice grassy brew with a bit of sweetness and a slightly nutty aftertaste (kind of like walnuts). This can be an expensive tea, but if you can grab a sample of this, I definitely recommend adding it to your green tea collection!

Episode 297: Thai Rooibos

It’s my first morning back home after a brief work trip to DC, and I wanted something a little out of the ordinary to get me back into the swing of things. Enter Harney & Sons Thai Rooibos — a nice blend of cinnamon, coconut, ginger, and lemongrass on a base of rooibos.

The tea smells and tastes like an amazingly exotic ginger snap! The coconut adds a nice bit of creaminess that blends well with rooibos’ natural sweetness. This would probably be amazing in a variation on Thai iced tea. (Must try that next!)

Episode 330: Cranberry Autumn

Happy Thanksgiving! I wanted to review some kind of Thanksgiving-based tea for this special holiday but I couldn’t really find anything. Turkey and gravy tea? Nope. But cranberries are fair game, so here’s Harney & Sons Cranberry Autumn Blend!

It’s a good black tea blend, but I think they were generous with the cranberry flavor. Even though there’s dried cranberry in here, the sweetness is more like canned cranberry sauce. Good, but not great.
