Episode 060: Strawberry Misaki

Blooming teas are just as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palette. Picture this: an intricate ball of tea unfurling underwater to reveal a beautiful flower arrangement. Check out this time-lapse video of Teavana’s Strawberry Misaki “flowering”!

This particular flowering tea contains jasmine and lily, which play well with the delicate white tea. The strawberry flavor is very light, so try this with a bit of honey. Unfortunately, Teavana no longer sells this particular blooming tea. But I will be reviewing more of these in the future!

Episode 104: Peach Momotaro

Flowers are blooming everywhere here in Atlanta…even right here in my apartment! Teavana’s Peach Momotaro is a blooming white tea with a delicate, soft peach flavor.

Keep in mind that with a lot of blooming teas, you’re not going to get a really strong flavor. I’d recommend steeping this around 5 minutes or so until you really start to see the water turn a deeper color. The peach flavor — while artificial — is a bit weak. Don’t go into this expecting a really juicy peach flavor.

Episode 163: Tiffany Rose

I haven’t reviewed a blooming tea in a while, but I recently found out about Tea Laden and their huge (and cheap!) selection of blooming teas and loaded up on several of them. First up: Tiffany Rose.

Tiffany Rose is a nice rose-scented green tea with an amaranth blossom woven in the center. It’s a nice, mild cup of tea, although I found the amaranth a bit bitter. It’s not bad, and with Tea Laden’s huge selection, I’ve got plenty more blooming teas to choose from.

Episode 185: 1000 Day Flower

Tea Laden’s 1000 Day Flower just sounds like a really cool name for a tea. And look at the little bloom! It looks like a tiny flower bud! You’ve gotta hand it to them for variety.

As far as taste, though? Eh…it’s alright. I’m certainly not seeing fireworks over it, but it’s a good, mild, middle-of-the-road tea to sip on throughout the day. And it looks pretty in a teapot. That counts for something, doesn’t it?

Episode 232: Three Flower Bouquet

I know it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a blooming tea, but I definitely plan on reviewing some more in the future. Let’s start with this lovely Three Flower bouquet from Tea Laden! This lavender and green tea blossom contains amaranth, jasmine, and lily.

This is a tasty tea! The three flowers come together to produce a light marzipan flavor with a bit of a starchy aftertaste. Blooming teas tend to be light on flavor, but not this one!
