Episode 022: Kitchen Sink Tea

I was very intrigued by this green tea blend from Zoomdweebie’s. The base is green tea (banchan, I think), and there is a huge medley of over 20 flavors added. Since each blend has different quantities of flavors, each cup tastes different.

It’s a fairly good green tea, but the fruity flavors are the star here. Try it iced and you’ll really taste the depth and nuance of flavor. It’s a lot going on, but it actually works!

Episode 072: Berry Basil Blast

I’m not really sure what to make of Teavana’s Berry Basil Blast. This is a discontinued blend from them — with good reason, honestly.

It’s another one of their “kitchen sink” blends, and it’s chock full of so many fruit inclusions that you barely taste the white tea or the basil. It tastes very similar to their Blueberry Kona Pop, except the basil imparts a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Episode 151: Wildberries Iced Tea

Zoomdweebie’s Wildberries Iced Tea has a lot of berry flavor — blackberry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and more. I haven’t had an iced green tea since Austin, so this was a really refreshing change of pace.

Even with all the berries in this mix, they blend together pretty nicely! I really like that you can taste the different berries throughout each sip — strawberry and raspberry at the beginning, blackberry, blueberry and the others at the end. I’ve got a link to purchase this at Zoomdweebie’s, but soon you’ll be able to get this from the new Southern Boy Iced Teas website!

Episode 153: Country Peach Passion

Of all the big box supermarket brand teas out there, I can’t believe I haven’t stumbled across a Celestial Seasonings tea yet. Well, time to fix that! Today, I’m trying Country Peach Passion from their herbal tea line.

I will say this — they really nailed that fresh peach taste in this blend, including the tartness from a slightly unripe peach. There is a bit of a sour, soapy aftertaste, but I found that it’s lessened a lot when you drink it iced rather than hot. You can probably find this in most grocery stores, so give it a try and let me know what you think!

Episode 155: Portland Rose City Chai

This tea comes courtesy of Andy Hayes from Plum Deluxe. Andy was kind enough to send me three samples to review for the site, and this one was my first choice — Portland Rose City Chai. It’s an interesting blend of black tea, almond rooibos (ooh!), rose petals, blackberry essence, lemongrass, cardamom, ginger and cinnamon.

This tea smells like a great bouquet of roses, and the blackberry and rose flavors pair so well together with the black tea. Maybe it’s because I drink a ton of chai tea, but I didn’t pick up much on any cardamom, ginger or cinnamon. Even still, it’s a really enjoyable cup of tea with a unique twist. Try it today!
