Episode 042: Men’s Activity Tea

ESP Emporium’s Men’s Activity Tea is a familiar blend. It reminds me a lot of Aveda’s Comforting Tea I reviewed last month; super aromatic, sweet, and slightly spicy.

There’s a ton of ingredients in here, and the mix of flavors produces a tangy yet satisfying cup of tea. I’m not sure what makes this a “men’s” tea specifically, but it did give me some get-up-and-go after lunch. Your mileage may vary.

Episode 044: Tulsi Rama

Tulsi rama — also known as holy basil — is a tea that’s well-known and revered in Hinduism. I had two 2 oz. bags of this in my collection that I had forgotten about it, so I figured I’d brew it up for today’s tea.

The brew tastes strongly of cloves and black pepper with aromatic notes of anise. I wasn’t too crazy about the taste, but it has a ton of health benefits. To me though, it was like drinking medicine.

Episode 066: Fasting Tea

Ah, another interesting blend from ESP Emporium — this time, it’s their Ayurvedic Fasting Herb Tea Blend (or Fasting Tea for short). As you can see from the photo here, there’s an eclectic mix of ingredients going on in this blend.

These all blend together to make an oddly tangy cup of tea. Not savory…tangy. It might be the mix of chamomile and black pepper, but there’s an odd taste to this blend. It’s meant to “support you in times of moderation”, but I think I’ll just stick to plain ol’ water.

I will say this — it did make me lose my appetite.

Episode 149: Caramel Vanilla Chai

I woke up needing a cup of tea the size of my head, and this caramel vanilla chai from Zoomdweebie’s really did the trick. Rich, malty CTC Assam (same as their RadioactiviTEA and Extra Bold Masala Chai blends) is blended with cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and cardamom, as well as caramel pieces and vanilla beans.

This is a really great morning tea! The CTC Assam will wake you right up, and the spices, caramel, and vanilla blend together really well (especially if you add some milk or cream). Grab this one quick before it’s gone!

Episode 157: Tomato Mint

Numi Organic Tea has a line of savory teas in a number of different vegetable flavors. I picked up a sampler box, and this was the luck of the draw — Tomato Mint. The ingredients sound like they would make a really nice soup — tomato, mint, cinammon, lemon peel, onion, and allspice.

I’ll just be blunt — I hate this…for drinking as a tea. It’s soup! Well, it’s more of a fat-free vegetable consommé. There is tea in here — decaf black tea — but you really don’t taste it at all. I would love to see this as a loose leaf blend with some lapsang souchong to add a bit of a smoky aroma and finish. Overall, it’s not bad, but it’s very one note.
