Episode 008: Aveda Comforting Tea

Aveda’s Comforting Tea blend (well, it’s a tisane if we’re being super technical) is a perfect introductory herbal tea. The lush aromatics of peppermint, basil, and sweet fennel are sweetened to perfection with the addition of licorice root.

This is the same tea Aveda serves in their spas worldwide! If you’re having a rough day, brew up a cup of this and lose yourself in the taste and aroma. You’re feeling better already!

Episode 066: Fasting Tea

Ah, another interesting blend from ESP Emporium — this time, it’s their Ayurvedic Fasting Herb Tea Blend (or Fasting Tea for short). As you can see from the photo here, there’s an eclectic mix of ingredients going on in this blend.

These all blend together to make an oddly tangy cup of tea. Not savory…tangy. It might be the mix of chamomile and black pepper, but there’s an odd taste to this blend. It’s meant to “support you in times of moderation”, but I think I’ll just stick to plain ol’ water.

I will say this — it did make me lose my appetite.

Episode 072: Berry Basil Blast

I’m not really sure what to make of Teavana’s Berry Basil Blast. This is a discontinued blend from them — with good reason, honestly.

It’s another one of their “kitchen sink” blends, and it’s chock full of so many fruit inclusions that you barely taste the white tea or the basil. It tastes very similar to their Blueberry Kona Pop, except the basil imparts a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Episode 148: Lemon Basil Oolong

I’m a big fan of lemon desserts, but it can sometimes be hard to find a good lemon tea that really packs that right combination of sweetness and zing. Enter this lemon basil oolong I purchased from SenseofJoyNBeauty on Etsy!

There are big lemon granules — a gelatinous mixture of lemon juice and lemon peel — which give the tea this lemon flavor. However, the basil isn’t really that present until the brew cools down a bit. This came as part of a sampler pack from SenseofJoyNBeauty, but you can buy a similar blend separately from ESP Emporium.

Episode 267: Basil Mint Pu’erh

If you’re a fan of loose leaf teas, you know it can be pretty easy to rag on the quality of bagged teas. I’ve gotta say though — pretty much every bagged tea I’ve had from Numi Organic Teas has had great flavor, and this Basil Mint Pu’erh is no exception.

Basil and mint are already harmonious flavors, and they add a sprightly kick to this pu’erh blend. There’s some slight chocolate notes to the pu’erh as well, which makes this a bit like drinking a Thin Mint cookie. Can’t be mad at that!
