White tea and white chocolate? Kinda sounds like an odd mix, but Zoomdweebie’s White Chocolate Lemon Shou Mei sounded intriguing enough for me to purchase a sample pack. Shou mei is picked later in the year than bai hao yin zhen and bai mu dan, so the taste is a bit woodier, but still light.
Y’know, I’m not sure how I feel about this. I brewed several cups to see if I could pick up the flavor, and it was very hay-like. (And I’m allergic to hay.) But that lightness does pair well with the lemon myrtle in the blend, and the white chocolate adds an interestingly buttery complement.
So I’m on the fence about this particular blend. Perhaps I need to try shou mei on its own to see if I can better appreciate the flavor.
