Episode 091: Coffee Tea

This is not an April Fool’s Day joke — I’m actually drinking coffee tea. I picked this up at Zhi Tea while I was in Austin last month. Coffee tea, also known as cascara, is a caffeinated herbal tea made from the husks of coffee cherries. (Coffee cherries, as you know, contain coffee beans, which are then roasted, ground and brewed into what we know as coffee.)

And let me tell you — as someone who is not a coffee drinker, I really like the taste of coffee tea! It has a smooth, clean taste with hints of red pepper. It’s unlike any type of tea I’ve tasted before, and that’s saying something. I’ve got to try this iced to see if there are any coffee-like flavors just waiting to come forth.
