Genmaicha (also known as brown rice tea, tea of Genmai, popcorn tea, or the people’s tea) has an interesting history. Typically, genmaicha consists of bancha — a low grade green tea — and roasted brown rice. Sometimes these grains pop, and the result looks like popcorn. The resulting brew is a nutty and smooth cup of tea that’s great all year long.
This blend includes mini marshmallows, which are a really nice complement to the genmaicha. It really does taste like a marshmallow treat! (Hey, that cereal company ain’t paying me for free promo.)
